Our Fire Hose Toys are made from decommissioned fire hose that we get from volunteer fire companies. Most volunteer fire companies face budget challenges and having to pay for dumpsters to throw out decommissioned fire hose does not help their bottom line. Hand and Paw Studio pays the fire companies for their decommissioned hose. This not only helps the fire companies’ budget, it also diverts the hose from ending up in a landfill.
We use natural cotton as a fill or stuffing. We have found that the cotton fill does not tend to trigger the desire in most dogs to shred the toy like poly fill does.
